 International Yoga Day 2016

  Acharya Vidya Kula observed International Yoga Day on 21-06-2016. Yoga Instructor, Smt. Sharada, guided students and teachers to perform asanas according to an accepted protocol and she explained the benefits of each asana. Sanskrit teachers Smt. Sujatha and Smt. Anuradha led the prayers during the assembly. One picture taken at the Event is shown below

Imvestiture Ceremony, 2016-17

  Acharya Vidya Kula held its Annual Investiture Ceremony on June 25th. The Chief Guest, Smt. Ramya Bopanna, Co-Chairperson of Yi (Young Indians) of CII (Confederation of Indian Industries) inducted the School Leaders for the Academic year 2016-17.  In her address to the gathering she spoke about the qualities of a good leader. She compared good leadership to the mastery of Yogasanas. She said that a flexible and perseverant leader brings out the best in his or her team.

Panchami T N of class X was inducted as the School Captain and Uddhav M Koushik of class IX as the Vice-Captain. Captains and Vice-Captains of the four houses:  Aaruni, Nachiketa, Shwethakethu and Upamanyu were also inducted.

On this occasion, the Jyotsna Haravu Samskrutha Puraskara and Smt. Padma Haravu Mathematics awards, instituted by the Haravu Charitable Trust, were presented to toppers in Sanskrit and Mathematics respectively for the year 2015-16.

Sri V Siddharthacharry, Founder Patron of the School and Smt. Vijaya Satish, Secretary graced the occasion.

AVK Alumni Meet 2016 - a brief report

AVK’s Annual Alumni Meet was held on July 9th at the School Campus. About sixty members of the alumni participated. They interacted with the current batch of Class X students. Management and Governing Board members, Founder Patron Sri. V Siddharthacharry, President Smt. Andal S Charry, Smt. Garuda K Iyengar and Sri. Govinda Prasad were present.

Sapplings were planted to mark the event. A gentle drizzle provided the backdrop.

The Alumni, students of class X, and teachers gathered in the Yogashala for a cup of tea and snacks. That was followed by a nostalgic rendering of the School Prayer by all gathered. Members of the Alumni answered questions about career options raised by class X students. After a meaningful sharing of ideas, class X students entertained the gathering with a melody followed by a treasure hunt for the alumni.

Highlights:

It was decided:

  1. not to nominate a President henceforth, but to nominate batch representatives as before. It was also decided that in the month of April and May, a Committee of Volunteers among the Alumni should be formed to take the responsibility of organizing the next meet.

  2. That the School’s Newsletter (events of each month) will be mailed to all batch heads who will in turn mail it to all alumni to keep the alumni informed of the events in the School.

Another memorable get together of the AVK family ended with the rendering of the Aikyamanthram.

Children’s Movement For Civic Awareness  (CMCA ) Team 2016

 

 

 

Dr.  Bhamy  Shenoy V, Founder President, Mysuru Grahakara Parishath inducted the new team of CMCA Club for 2016 on 14th July 2016. The team was named AlertAVKiain's. Dr. Bhamy spoke to the students about active citizenship and about how they as youngsters can take responsibilities to contribute to the proper development of Mysuru. Students presented a skit on the theme ‘Save Chamundi Hills’.

Mrs. Usha Subramaniam, CMCA Instructor, Founder Patron Sri. Siddharthacharry, Principal,  BT Sarojini, Vice Principal Sudha M Kumar, Staff and students were present on the occasion.  A picture taken at the event is given above.

 

 

Independence Day 2016

Acharya Vidya Kula celebrated India's Independence Day on August 15th 2016.

.  Dr. Narendraprasad, Head of the Department of History, JSS Women’s College, Mysore was the Guest of Honour. He hoisted the National Flag and later addressed the gathering. He advised students to respect the Soldiers of the Nation. He also advised parents to encourage their children to join defense forces if they wished to. He recalled the selfless sacrifice of freedom fighters and asked students to seek inspiration from the lives of these great men.

Students presented the march past, drill exercises, formations by the School Band, Yogasana display and a skit in Kannda. The skit was a tribute to Soldiers. A dance expressing unity in diversity was also performed.

Sanskrit Day Celebrations, 27th August 2016

  The Eighteenth Sanskrit Day celebration was hosted by Achraya Vidya Kula on 27th  August 2016 at the School's campus. The Chief Guest on this occasion was Dr. Srivathsa, Prof. and Head of the Department, Ayurveda Hospital, Mysore.

 

The Judges for the various competitions were: Sri. Ganesh Bhat, Sanskrit Lecturer in Vidyavardhaka College, Mysore; Smt. Nalini, Retd. Sanskrit teacher, Sri. Vinay.B.K., B.E. (Mechanical) and MA in Sanskrit, Mysore, and Sri. Jayaram Bhat, Sanskrit teacher in Maharaja’s High School.

 CREATIVE SCIENCE COMPETITION FOR CLASSES VI – X

The Creative Science Competition was conducted on Saturday 3rd September 2016 for students of classes VI to X. Students participated in groups of 3 and presented models/experiments to explain a concept of their choice,

Resource persons from Science Ashram and Vesto Education Solutions along with Science teachers of the School were the judges.

The event gave the students an opportunity to put the theory to hands on experimentation and these enhance their learning activities.
